So I just sent out an email letting many people know that we now have a blog site. Interestingly enough, I realized that many of those people (possibly you), may not even know what is going on in our lives. So here goes.
Megan and I had been aproached in January about possibly moving overseas to share the gospel message with people that don't have access to it. If you're not sure what this message is, I would encourage you to click on the link to the right labeled "How to Meet Jesus" and watch the video that comes up. Anyway, our friends Mike and Tippy, have been actively pursuing a way to serve God in another country for several years now and it would seem as though all the doors are open for them to do so. Mike is training to be a pilot so he can escort missionaries, doctors, medical supplies and much more into remote locations that cannot typically be accessed by car or boat. He and Tippy asked Megan and I if we would like to go with them and use my mechanical skills to help them maintain the planes that these pilots are flying. After much prayer and thought, Megan and I agreed to pursue this with them.
So if you were not sure why I had to quit my job in the first post, this is why. We are currently packing to move to Grand Rapids Michigan to begin both Airplane and Bible training. Not sure exactly which country we will end up in. We will spend the next year or so trying to figure that part out.
Things are moving along. We had a going away party yesterday and for all of you who were there, we thank you for your encouragement. We are excited to go yet to leave so much of what and who we love has been and is going to be difficult. Please pray for us. Please don't forget us. Anyway, more to come as we arrive in Grand Rapids in the coming days.
First Time In
So this the first time ever "blogging" for me (Corey). I must say, it is quite intimidating beings I have seen and read so many skilled bloggers in the past. I must preface by saying, I may be one the most boring bloggers you will encounter. My greatest apologies.
For all who are not aware, my last day at work was Wednesday. It was very much a day of mixed feelings. More than anything I just felt like there is a ton of unfinished work there. Over the last couple of years, I have tried to keep this mentality before me that the workplace is a huge part of my mission field. It has truly been an entirely different work experience than I have been used to in the past. My goal before was to always be the best worker not for the sake of witness as much as it has been about money. Here, my goal has been more than anything, to win people to Christ. All this being said, a stark reality has hit me over the last week or so. Funny thing you should know, is that I am not the only person God uses. Imagine that!!! As I had been down and out about leaving all the people that I had invested in over the last two and a half years, I was blessed to see that the guy that is taking my place, loves the Lord. So with that, I guess God's word once again proves me wrong and Him right in saying "The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers" (1 Cor. 3:8&9a). I guess it is a testimony to the fact that we live a very individualistic faith that is so very contrary to the truth of how Christ wants His people to live and work together to build His Kingdom. Anyway, lesson learned..........for now.
More to come in the future so stay tuned.
