IS THERE ANYTHING I AM IN CONTROL OF?

The answer is no. Megan and I were recently reminded that God is the one in control. It doesn't really seem that way sometimes does it? It seems like our choices are our own and the consequence (good or bad) of that is ours as well. It seems like we only have children because of what we do, it seems that we are the ones responsible for the election coming up in November. Don't get me wrong, there is an element of our participation in life but does that mean we're in control? It seems like we have so much control of our lives until something unplanned or surprising happens. Megan and I have been planning for the last six months to move to Idaho for an internship with Missionary Aviation Fellowship. Because of all the gas price hikes, two weeks ago, we got a call to let us know that the position is no longer available as of the beginning of the year. I was reading in James chapter four this morning and it says, "If the Lord wills we will live and do this or that" is how we ought to look at things in life. God is the one whose will is going to be achieved. I don't think we were aproaching this internship without this in mind but God showed us the reality of this verse. That if God wills, we will go to Idaho for the internship or if God wills, we will not move to Idaho for the internship. The point is, God is in control. Not a bird falls from the sky outside of His control, the clouds go where He tells them to go and Megan and I are now going to be in Columbus for the next few months (if God wills).

Finished....for now?

Three days ago, I graduated from the School of Missionary Aviation Technology. It was an exciting day to know that big change is just weeks away but it was very sad to say goodbye to many friends that I have grown close to over the last year. Its always funny how things go a little different than expected. I knew that I would miss these guys but it struck me in the middle of the graduation ceremony that many of these guys, I wouldn't see again. The good news is that I will probably see serveral of them (you)again beings the missionary aviation community isn't all that large. So I look forward to seeing what God is doing and where He is taking you all.
On the flip side, Megan and I are glad to have some time off. This last month has been.....a little crazy. I had my final three exams for my FAA Powerplant rating which involves an oral interview, a practical exam and a written test. Between studying for all the exams, packing for our move at the end of August, going to California for a wedding, being a dad and husband (did I mention Megan is pregnant), and the many other responsibilities in my life, its good to be in Columbus for a break.
