At my last month's appointment I had the big ultrasound done. Everything looked great and healthy - the baby was too cute! But...he/she didn't want to cooperate and show us their "stuff", so we left the appointment not knowing the sex...so when people asked "So...what is it?" our reply was, "A BABY!"
However, at my most recent appointment last week, my doctor was so kind as to take another quick peek to see...and we did...we're having another GIRL! We're now going to have two little girls running around the house. They get to wear matching pajamas, play dolls together, and all the other cute things little girls do! We're excited and looking forward to her arrival! We have chosen the name Ella Faith. Catelyn pronounces it, "Ella Fafe" - too cute!
So...Corey continues to be out-numbered in our house!
Catelyn time
Our little girl has been growing up so fast. She's 2-1/2 going on 13. She says things like "Are you kidding me?" and dances in the shopping cart while we grocery shop! She is just so much fun! She has recently learned how to ride a tricycle - which she is so proud of. Last week we took her to a fall festival at Leed's Farm to play and pick out a pumpkin - we had a great time! She also went trick-or-treating for the first time this year - she dressed up as a little butterfly and was all about asking for candy. She showed no signs of apprehension in going up to strangers and asking for treats...in fact she took the liberty to ask for two or three pieces! We have a junk-food fanatic on our hands now - we're just thankful that this holiday only comes once a year! We also took her to get her haircut this past week - she look like such a little lady now. It's amazing how a haircut can make a child look so much older! Anyway, we just wanted to update you all on the new happenings with our little Catelyn. She is such a joy!
Much Fun!
Last week, we got back from a visit to Idaho. We were invited to visit the Mission Aviation Fellowship headquarters for a time of evaluation. It gave us the opportunity to evaluate them and them to evaluate us for overseas mission work. We had such an amazing time getting to see MAF first hand. I had to re-learn that you can only learn so much about something by reading about it. Our experience there taught us volumes more. It reminded me of Psalm 34:8 "Taste and see that the Lord is good." If a person would really engage and experience the Lord, they would see that He is good. Although visiting MAF wasn't the same as coming to know the Lord, the concept of the verse was the same for us. Being there really showed us the depth of the ministry. It has seemed easy for me in the past to think MAF is the mission that fly's the missionaries into the tribal areas of the world! Although that is true, it isn't even close to complete. There is so much that the mission is engaged in that I couldn't comprehend it all. It seems that they will do whatever they can to get a Christian presence anywhere in the world and I really appreciated that.
Megan and I got to know some really cool people and enjoyed getting to hear their stories overseas. We especially enjoyed all the differences from culture to culture. We are in for some challenges but we are excited. We'll be back in Idaho for the month of January which will be a more intensive time of learning what MAF is doing around the world. These have been some exciting times for the Kirkwood family. We look forward to seeing what else is in store.
