Family Fun at the Fair continued....

As mentioned before, we found out that Catelyn takes after her daddy in her love for rides. So we put together a short video for you to see her reaction for yourselves. Since the video is a little blurry, note that Catelyn is wearing a dark pink shirt.

Enjoy!!

Family Fun at the Fair

We took the girls to the County Fair this week. It was a great surprise to run into our friends the Giorgis there too! So, their daughter, Ella (yep...another Ella), and Catelyn got to ride on a lot of rides together. The two of them were so adorable holding hands while walking around. However, they were polar opposites when it came to rides...Ella Giorgi was very skeptical and nervous, while Catelyn was her daddy's daughter - a wild woman! She LOVED the rides (although she calls them "games!")! Our Ella had a good time too...she got to snack on a pizza crust, so she wasn't bummed one bit that she didn't get to go on any of the rides.

Canada - part deux

Montreal is a great place to visit! I had never been there and I was rather surprised that it was as different from the States as it was given that it's only an hour flight from Washington D.C. In fact it was very European and loaded with historical architecture dating back to the 1600's. Both my friend Dave and I had the opportunity to take the PT-6 class together (see post below) but sight seeing with him wasn't quite the same as it has been for me in the past with my wife. Not that I don't like being around him, actually it's quite opposite but the whole time I wished Meg could see all the things I was seeing. There were some really cool things! I loved the prevalent outdoor dining and centuries of history that has taken place there. It's always cool to try to put yourself in a different time in history and imagine how things unfolded when you look at these ancient structures while reading pamphlets on how they came to be. On the other hand there were some not so cool things too. Beings my hotel was about a block from a massive Catholic Basilica, I thought I better drop in and visit. Though it was beautiful and artistic, I found it sad to think that many people believe that massive goddy buildings seemingly enhance their worship of God. It seems to me that His creation could enhance worship far more than a building with lots of gold and statues of dead people to pray to. In addition, these were accompanied by thousands of candles that can be purchased so you can enhance a prayer and seek forgiveness for somebody other than yourself. Does that sound a little off to you? I couldn't help but think, how did the church get here? How did Scripture get set aside so that the ideas and dreams of Popes and Cardinals take precedence over God's inspired Word to mankind? Sad as it is, it has. There is a lot of work to do. There is a great need for people to hold fast to the truth and proclaim it to the ends of the earth (including Montreal.) Here are a few pics of the Basilica.

So visit Montreal. Visit for the history, the European feel (without the expensive airline tickets) and the exposure to something un-American. I'm really thankful for the opportunity, on many levels. Even the realization that my family and I will be living in a totally different culture hit me there like a ton of bricks. Feeling very lost without knowing French (even though most people spoke English as a second language), in a land very unfamiliar forced me to realized how hard it is going to be to adapt to a new culture. Montreal would be a piece of cake compared to Indonesia. So to the Lord we go for strength. We need you Jesus!

Canada

I had the opportunity to go to Montreal for the last couple weeks for a class for MAF. The purpose was to study an engine that we use in a few of our aircraft made by Pratt & Whitney called the PT-6. It's complex in some ways but very simple in others. The aircraft we use it in is the Cessna Caravan, the King Air B200 and the all new Quest Kodiak, a plane designed specifically for the mission field.

It was exciting to be in the class because oddly enough, it made it rather real for me that the time is drawing near when we'll be living in Indonesia, serving with MAF sharing the love of God with spiritually and physically isolated people. Enjoy these pics of the PT-6 engine, a Cessna Caravan and Kodiak. As enjoyable and exciting as these planes can be, they are simply a tool. To minister the truth of the Gospel to people is the what is truly exciting. These planes will do their task here on Earth and come to an end at some point but the people that they will be serving have souls that will exist for all of eternity. Our hope is that we can use these planes to show the love of God in ways that will spur them on to desire an eternal existence with Jesus and not apart from Him in the place of utter darkness and despair.

What an exciting thing for us to be a part of! Thanks to all of you who are making this possible. You are all a blessing to us but even more so to the people we will be serving.....forever! More on Canada in the near future.......

Day at the park

Here are a couple videos of our day at the park today. It was Ella's first time on a swing. Catelyn was so excited to be able to climb the wall! I just love my girls. They make me smile.
