Montreal is a great place to visit! I had never been there and I was rather surprised that it was as different from the States as it was given that it's only an hour flight from Washington D.C. In fact it was very European and loaded with historical architecture dating back to the 1600's. Both my friend Dave and I had the opportunity to take the PT-6 class together (see post below) but sight seeing with him wasn't quite the same as it has been for me in the past with my wife. Not that I don't like being around him, actually it's quite opposite but the whole time I wished Meg could see all the things I was seeing. There were some
really cool things! I loved the prevalent outdoor dining and centuries of history that has taken place there. It's always cool to try to put yourself in a different time in history and imagine how things unfolded when you look at these ancient structures while reading pamphlets on how they came to be. On the other hand there were some not so cool things too. Beings my hotel was about a block from a massive Catholic Basilica, I thought I better drop in and visit. Though it was beautiful and artistic, I found it sad to think that many people believe that massive goddy buildings seemingly enhance their worship of God. It seems to me that His creation could enhance worship far more than a building with lots of gold and statues of dead people to pray to. In addition, these were accompanied by thousands of candles that can be purchased so you can enhance a prayer and seek forgiveness for somebody other than yourself. Does that sound a little off to you? I couldn't help but think, how did the church get here? How did Scripture get set aside so that the ideas and dreams of Popes and Cardinals take precedence over God's inspired Word to mankind? Sad as it is, it has. There is a lot of work to do. There is a great need for people to hold fast to the truth and proclaim it to the ends of the earth (including Montreal.) Here are a few pics of the Basilica.
