Being Sharpened

For the last month and a half, we have been here in Nampa Idaho where MAF's headquarters is located. There has been a host of training of all sorts. If you scroll a ways down the blog reel, you'll see some pictures and posts about some of our cultural training. For the last two weeks, I have had the blessing of getting my hands dirty. With raising support and going through all that is necessary to move overseas, I haven't had a whole lot of time working on anything. I'm not used to that so this has been great for me. Below, you will see pictures of lots of the planes we maintain with MAF. There are several other types in various countries but these are currently here in Nampa.

Gertjan on the left and I are troubleshooting an electrical problem on the aircraft behind us. Gertjan (who goes by Gert) is headed to Papua Indonesia but will make a pit stop in Salatiga and learn language with us for a year.

These planes are Cessna 206's, used to train our pilots for the unique flying that MAF does. They are incredibly abused (but well taken care of).

This plane is called the Kodiak. It's brand new and ready to send overseas to Papua Indonesia. If only the weather would cooperate.
These big tanks are necessary to fly the planes overseas. Smaller planes aren't designed to fly over large masses of water like the Pacific Ocean. So we redesign it so it can.

Here are two more Kodiaks. Currently MAF owns more Kodiaks than anyone in the world; tapping out at 4. The one on the right (only the wing is visible in this picture) is on its way to Central Asia. I'm not sure where the one on the left is going.

I just thought this one was a good shot of the power plant. Zoom zoom.....
Being here and training really makes us all the more excited to serve God in this way. We can't wait to serve the people of Aceh and make the Gospel known to those who's hearts God is nurturing to embrace Him as Lord.

Gotta love airplanes! I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself and my family. My name is Joy and my hubby and I serve in Kalimantan. Do you all know where you are assigned yet? We would love to answer any questions or calm any fears you may have....we are in the States, so if you want to chat via phone, that would work too!
Blessings!

Interesting pictures...I ran into a video on the Cornerstone simi website that had your families testimony and future plans of going to Indonesia to be a MAF aircraft mechanic. My name is Chad Houser and am currently in A&P training in Columbus OH. I have been praying about aviation mission work since high school and am still praying for the Lord's direction on exactly what He has for my life. In the mean time i have been trying to make some contact with some guys that are moving or have moved into missionary aviation and just seeking advice and counsel on my future plans and training. So with all that said i would love to get in contact with you and seek some of the wisdom you have in missionary aviation. You may contact me initially at my email which is- mxridingdude125@yahoo.com
Thanks so much for your time and help.
