Peace-full Conversations with my Children

"For a child has been born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

This is the Christmas season that I want my children to grow up experiencing. This is the fragrance that I desire my home to breathe in and out: peace. The Prince of Peace.

Jesus.

I want my children to know that peace found apart from Christ (the peace that the world offers) is as constant as water held in the palm of one's hand. Yes, it provides relief for a moment, but then its charms slowly slip through our fingers once again and are revealed for what they truly are: false and fleeting.

But then there's Jesus - the Gift of peace.

"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful." -Jesus {John 14:27}

Isn't that refreshing?

True peace. Lasting peace. Peace from the One who created all things.

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased." Luke 2:14

Our Savior, the "peace among men."

This Christmas, my desire and my joy is to have plenty of Peace-full conversations with my daughters. Laughing together while sipping warm yummy drinks. Sharing with them the beauty of Jesus. The hope we have from His coming. The peace in His promise of return. This not only to encourage them, but to encourage my own heart as well. Stirring one another up and encouraging one another as the Day draws near.

Glory to God in the Highest!
