Called Upon to Serve

Last week the province of Aceh experienced another decent-sized earthquake - 6.2. This time it was on land causing much damage. The latest reports show 35 have died, hundreds injured, and over 4,300 homes/buildings damaged or destroyed. This all occurred about an hour flight south of us in an isolated region in the mountains. We felt the quake, albeit lightly.

Soon after, the government officials in our city called upon MAF to fly them into the region to assess the damage, and if need be, transport injured patients back to our bigger city to receive better medical attention. Needless to say, our plane was full of patients on its return trip. And many flights thereafter. Our team has been working overtime this past week helping with the victims of this earthquake, by providing quick and efficient air ambulance service for these terrified and injured people - many of which are children.

Please pray for these people who have just undergone a very traumatic event. Many lost loved ones, homes, and hope. Pray for our team as we work continually to care for and serve this hurting people - that we would bring the Peace and Comfort that they so desperately need.

"I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where shall my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth." Psalm 121:1-2

Corey was able to snap a couple shots with his phone:

A young child found under rubble. She was in really bad shape.

A mother holding her baby who was also found trapped under the rubble.
