Family Conference 2013

We spent the last week at Lake Toba for our MAF family conference. Lake Toba is a lake and supervolcano. It is also the largest volcanic lake in the world. Oh, and it's beautiful!

Our family had a great time up in the mountains of Northern Sumatra. The cooler mountain air (70 degrees - about 20 degrees cooler!) was a refreshing surprise - we even felt the need to wear our one and only sweatshirt during the "cold" mornings (poor kiddos don't even own one long-sleeve shirt - that's life in the tropics!).

We (the adults) spent the mornings and evenings gathering together for worship - opening up the Word together and singing. The kids spent the same time doing VBS (a couple super cool girls from Malaysia & America came to love on our kids - and they all had a blast!)
(Picture includes our team, Pastor Matt, VBS ladies, and our regional director and wife)

During the days we all had "free time" which we all took full advantage of: visiting a local coffee shop (non-coffee drink for me!), swimming in the lake, swinging on vines, sunset/moonlight boat rides on the lake, playing in a waterfall, and more! We love our team...it's fun to live, serve, and relax alongside a truly great group of people!

Pastor Matt graciously added us to his visiting/speaking schedule and blessed us thoroughly through his teaching. To our surprise, he also came bearing gifts to lavish even more blessings upon us - from much-needed hangar gear, to freshly-caught and smoked Pacific Northwest salmon from a guy in his church. From books for the ladies, to highly-coveted candy from America! We were all very much loved upon by many!

We are all looking forward to next year's conference!
