My fingers slowly brushing over the spines of the many books that are so neatly lined up upon my bookshelf. {Ah...I love reading!} Books I purchased while in the States to feed my soul and disciple me as I live in a land where Scripture-rich writings are scarce, if at all.
I am searching for what my soul longs for; to hear about. Learn about. Be fed with.
I am searching for what my soul longs for; to hear about. Learn about. Be fed with.
As title after title pass by my fingers, none quite appease the longing that has been increasingly growing in my heart. A deep well of yearning for more steadily rising within me.
"...deep calls to deep..." Psalm 42:7
All these books are good and full of the promise of wise words, yet something still lacks in persuading my heart to grab one and contentedly open its pages right now.
I want more than they can offer.
I long to be richly satisfied.
Each morning, I am awakened by the sweet breath of Jesus as I pore over His words of life. His words of love and hope. Of renewal and promise.
"O satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days." Psalm 90:14
Here. Right here is my more.
I want more of this.
In these moments with my Savior I am deeply and richly satisfied. Here, my heart beats slow and somehow wild at the same time.
Nothing arouses such peace and joy within me. None but Jesus.
"Delight yourself in the Lord..." Psalm 37:4
I have been asked a few times these past couple of months, What is your goal for 2015? What will you focus your attention on? What change do you hope to see at the end of the year, Megan? All of these very good questions. {I am a planner, after all!}
So, for me, this year my goal is Jesus.
I simply want more of Him. I want to know Him more. To marvel at Him through His Word. To enjoy Him more fully in song. To recognize His glory and beauty through His creation. To walk closer with Him so as to be changed by His Presence. To seek to imitate Jesus as I get to know Him better, and so resemble my Savior to others.
{And oh, how many of my light and momentary afflictions are placed in proper perspective as they are eclipsed by the light of the glory of Christ!}
I can think of no better pursuit; no more satisfying end than Him. Finding delight in both the pursuit and the discovery of Him in my days. That is my goal for 2015.
More of Jesus.
And I am blessedly confident that will obtain that which I seek, because He {who is called The Lord our righteousness} has promised it so.
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." Matthew 5:6
O Lord, what a strange and glorious curiosity: to be deeply satisfied in You, God, yet all the while, yearn for more and more of You! And then what's more: You gladly supply it! Happy soul that I am! May it be forever! Amen.
*Do you need more? Is your heart aching and longing for more than this world can offer? Oh, may I encourage you? Let it be Jesus!
